Fees & Legal Aid for Niagara

Litigation is often slow, expensive, and adversarial — designed to determine fault rather than foster understanding. Mediation, by contrast, is built for resolution. It costs a fraction of what most legal proceedings do and can often be completed in days instead of months. Because parties share the cost of one neutral mediator rather than hiring opposing counsel, mediation keeps resources focused on solutions instead of procedures. It’s not about “winning” a case, but about restoring communication and moving forward — efficiently, privately, and with dignity.

  • Mediation is billed hourly, with flexible options based on the nature of the dispute and the parties involved. Rates include intake, mediation sessions, and written summaries or agreements.

    Breakdown:

    • Standard rate: $200/hour

    • Non-profit organizations: $150/hour

    • Free consultation to determine fit and scope

Typical total: Most mediations resolve in 3–5 hours

Flat-rate half-day and full-day options are available for organizations or multi-party mediations.

  • Because conflict affects everyone, I reserve time each month for clients who need mediation but can’t afford full fees. Community rates and pro bono slots are available for individuals, families, and organizations referred through trusted local partners.

    Details:

    • Community rate: Mediation services provided on a sliding scale ($40-100 / hour)

    • Pro bono mediation: limited monthly availability by referral. Contact me for more information.
