⚖️ Mediation in the Justice System

Mediation in Niagara is a voluntary and confidential process that helps parties resolve disputes efficiently and respectfully — without the cost and delay of formal litigation. It supports the justice system by reducing caseloads, encouraging self-determination, and producing durable, interest-based agreements.

As a qualified mediator, I provide services consistent with Ontario’s ADR standards, including Rule 24.1 (Civil), Rule 75.1 (Estates), and the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program. My practice also aligns with the Administrative Tribunals Act, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) process, and the Social Justice Tribunals Ontario (SJTO) mediation framework.

Areas of Mediation Relevant to Courts and Tribunals

  • Civil & Small Claims — contracts, property damage, landlord–tenant issues, defamation, or personal disputes.

  • Estates & Elder Mediation — will interpretation, family property, caregiver conflict, and inheritance disputes.

  • Workplace & Employment — wrongful dismissal, harassment, performance, and return-to-work planning.

  • Family & Relationship — parenting time, child support, spousal support, and separation agreements.

  • Administrative & Tribunal Matters — housing, workplace safety, human rights, and community-based disputes.

Legal Compatibility & Documentation

All mediation sessions are conducted in accordance with the Ontario Code of Ethics for Mediators and can produce a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) suitable for independent legal review or filing as a consent order.
Parties are always encouraged to seek independent legal advice before signing any binding document.

  • Confidentiality: All discussions are without prejudice and protected under Ontario’s mediation privilege.

  • Voluntariness: Participation is fully voluntary, and either party may withdraw at any time.

  • Neutrality: The mediator does not offer legal advice or take sides.

Coordination with Legal Counsel

Lawyers, paralegals, and legal aid workers are welcome to participate directly in the mediation process or remain available for consultation. I can provide:

  • Process summaries or MOU drafts for counsel review

  • Attendance confirmations (if required by the court)

  • Referrals for post-mediation legal formalization

Accessibility and Online Mediation

All services are available in-person throughout the Niagara Region and online across Ontario.
Sessions are hosted securely via encrypted video conferencing, with digital document signing and confidentiality agreements provided electronically.
